This copy is in a very solid VERY FINE with all pages here and complete and the book is flat, clean and colorful!
"The Flame and the Quest!" is by Archie Goodwin, John Buscema, Joe Sinnott and Sam Rosen as The Human Torch approaches The Inhumans Great Refuge to see Crystal and gets attacked by 3 Inhumans who inform him she has not been seen since she was with the FF and that Maximus The Mad is now King here! He could care less and flies away! At Whisper Hill, Agatha Harkness is entertaining Reed, Sue, Ben, and Alicia Masters. As Ben and Alicia take a tour of the mansion, Ben is frightened when he almost trips over Agatha's cat Ebony. “Calm yourself Mr. Grimm -- Ebony was just being affectionate.” Ben replies: “Well, why don'cha put some combat boots on 'im so a fella can hear 'im comin'! Us Super-Hero types are sensitive about bein' sneaked up on!”
Johnny arrives and asks Agatha to use her magic to try and find out what happened to Crystal, but the flickering image doesn’t help. What they didn't know is that, after she left the FF, Crystal was teleported by Lockjaw to a distant future where humanity had long ago wiped itself out in a great war. There they were knocked out by the alchemist known as Diablo, who has been trapped in the distant future following a failed alliance with Doctor Doom! They made it back to our time to South America! Somehow, The Torch uses the crystal ball to find them and finds Crystal and Diablo in a South American town called Terra Verde, which is held in the hands of a tyrant!
TRIVIA: Crystal poses as the Ahau goddess Ixchel, who has yet to appear in a story, however she is mentioned in Thor & Hercules: Encyclopaedia Mythologica #1! ALSO: on the cover, only the Crystal figure is done by John Romita…the rest are by John Buscema!
