When's the last time you saw this Softcover?! There were four of these Marvel Comics releated books released in early 1981 by longtime Marvel Writer David Anthony Kraft and Roger Stern: FANTASTIC FOUR: COSMIC QUARTET, THE INCREDIBLE HULK: GAMMA-POWERED GOLIATH, SPIDER-MAN: WORLD-FAMOUS WALL-CRAWLER and This One: CAPTAIN AMERICA: STAR-SPANGLED SUPER-HERO! Each is 68 pages!
This softcover book is in MINT AND UNREAD condition...easily the best I've ever seen!
This kicks off with an awesome John Romita and Bob Larkin painted cover!
"Captain America - The Man and the Legend!" is a two-page recap by David Anthony Kraft with Pencils & Inks by John Byrne!
"The Red Skull Supreme!" by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Frank Giacoia and Artie Simek, as Captain America fights a seemingly-hopeless battle against The Skull, who is armed with The Cosmic Cube which can do anything he wishes merely by thinking it! This was easily one of CA's greatest stories and is reprinted from Tales of Suspense #81 (September 1966)!
"The Red Skull Lives!" is a 2 page origin recap by David Anthony Kraft and Jack Kirby!
"Captain America Joins... The Avengers!" by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, George Roussos and Artie Simek reprints the legendary Avengers #4 (March 1964), as Prince Namor, The Sub-Mariner, attacks a group of Eskimos and throws their idol into the sea. When the ice melts, the figure trapped within turns out to be Captain America, who was in suspended animation since the end of World War II. The Avengers rescue Cap and return to New York. An alien figure turns our heroes to stone. When Cap and Rick Jones track him down, the alien agrees to restore the Avengers if they agree to help him recover his broken spaceship in return. When doing so, the Avengers are attacked by Namor and his people. The restored spaceship ultimately drives off Namor and his Army!
"The Living Legend" by Roger Stern, John Byrne, Joe Rubinstein with Colors by Bob Sharen and Letters by Joe Rosen as we flashback on Steve Rogers life and The origin of Captain America is retold!
There are also several one-page pin-up's and text!
