TALES of the MARVELS : WONDER YEARS! Wonder Man DIES!! $28.00 shipped!
Released by Marvel Comics in Aug. and Sept. 1995, these Acetate-Covered Specials are fully painted and featured different Marvel Superheroes! These two issues in my opinion, were among the better ones...and I'm NOT a Wonder Man fan!
1 - Cindy Knutz told Wonderfans that she met Wonder Man and that he saved her life before being left with his sunglasses. Before, he saved her from being crushed by the huge Robot Red Ronin in the Bronx. She found him lying unconscious and taking off his glasses, he flew away without taking them back. She moved to L.A. and got a job at Starsigns to be closer to him, saw him outside and attempted to meet him again before missing her chance. She learned from Bernie Sedaka, president of the Wonderfans, that he would be addressing his fans the next month, and after learning that the West Coast Avengers were disbanding, they visited their headquarters to try to meet him but as she saw him and started to speak, Kree attacked and a wall collapsed on her and Bernie. Although they survived, Wonder Man was reported to have died! TRIVIA: The Avengers' battle with Red Ronin occurred during Avengers #198! The Avengers/Force Works battle with the Kree, and Wonder Man's death, occurred in Force Works #1!!
2 - After Wonder Man's death, L.A.'s skies were left soft red due to the afterglow of his ion energy dissipating. Many Fans held a vigil outside of his house with Scarlet Witch addressing them while Bernie watched the broadcast before Cindy visited her and told her that the club voted that they should attend his memorial service as its representatives. Cindy predicted that Wonder Man would come back to life during the service and Bernie expressed that all she wanted was to be where he was. On Wednesday, when Cindy arrived for the service, she met Iron Man and Nick Fury but before it started, she realized what Bernie was doing and rushed back to her and found her lying on the floor. Cindy took Bernie to a hospital before returning to Wonder Man's memorial, leaving his sunglasses on it, and saying goodbye to him. This great story was by Dan Abnett, Andy Lanning and Igor Kordey!
