OBO.
I believe the snare is a “VINTAGE 1962-63 SUPER LUDWIG 400 COB (CHROME OVER BRASS) 5x14" SNARE DRUM, pre-LM400, pre-SUPRAPHONIC.
in GOOD, USED CONDITION!
This very rare Ludwig snare drum features a chrome over brass shell, COB (chrome over brass) hoops, along with all of the corresponding parts and features that were standard with this era of the SUPER LUDWIG 400 snare drum:
Keystone badge with no serial number
Red felt muffler
Baseball bat muffler lever
CONDITION:
Being 60+ years old, this snare drum is going to have signs of use. The chrome on the exterior of the shell has some areas in which the chrome has diminished somewhat, with what might be called pitting but isn't pitting as found on the "Ludalloy" LM-400s.
THERE ARE GOING TO BE SCRATCHES AND DEFECTS WHICH ARE MINOR. THIS SUPER LUDWIG 400 ISN'T BEING PRESENTED AS A MUSEUM PIECE BUT THE VERY RARE DRUM THAT IT IS.
These are rare, prized and becoming hard to find in any condition.”
The price includes the vintage floor, Tom, which has some corrosion issues but could be cleaned up by somebody who knows what they’re doing. All the items you see pictured here have been are included with the price. The top high hat symbol says Zim-Gar.
I’m selling for a friend. The description you see here was pulled from a drum on eBay. As of the publication of this, I have a friend who has been drumming for 50 years who is going to verify what we have here. I am a retired band director and used a magnet on the drum and it is non-magnetic. The snare is heavy and is not pitting like an aluminum drum would.
My drummer friend says the cymbals are not of high-quality, but the fact that they still exist after all these years enhances the vintage description provided here. The bottom high hat cymbal is cracked and does not have a brand name on it.
This is a cash only sale. We will meet in the Three Lakes Police Department entrance to protect all parties. Feel free to ask any questions. A verified description of the snare drum should be available within a week of this advertisement.
None of these items will be shipped. This is being sold as a package. Do not hesitate to make an offer :-). Serious inquiries only.
*** Here is the update I’ve been waiting for. My friend Pete indicates that this is 99% or more a chrome over brass super sensitive Ludwig snare drum between the years of 1960 and 1963.

Not pictured here is the pedal for the vintage high hat. The owner just found this today and informed me of this. It will be included with the package.
